Aion in favor of Fallen Earth

I've made the decision to quit playing Fallen Earth in favor of Aion. The reason might be obvious. I've been waiting for Aion since december 2006, and now I can finally play the game without any complications. The last couple of days I've even rerolled, and am going to the same content for the 5th or even 6th time (also counting the Elyos characters I made during closed beta), and I'm still not bored with the content. With that, the Spirit Master class is a lot of fun indeed, and even more now that the summons can actually fly (they could not during closed beta), which gives me more options in the Abyss. There is only one thing left to do: find an active Legion. I might have found one already (and I did apply to become a member), but I haven't met the leaders yet to talk and get invited. It's partly my own fault, because last night I was busy watching television (Trauma and House). I hope I can reach them today for the talk and invite... |

Rerolling

When Aion was released, I wasn't sure if I'd play a Chanter or a Spirit Master. Now that it seems that my old clan is almost compeltely inactive, the choice has been made for me. Since a Chanter is not really a solo class, it's more of a group buffer that does some nice damage and little healing, I came up with a problem. The game is already half a year old, and there are few parties to get in the lower regions of the game. 2 days ago, after half an hour of yelling, I finally got myself into a party to enter the Tirnos Outpost (did I spell the name right?). I know I'll have to stay there for a while, and I don't want to wait that long for a party each day... So I rerolled into a Spirit Master. This class can be played very well solo, though the Tirnos Outpost might be hard, I think I will manage. Get a Priest or Chanter to team up, and we can have fun there... Solo will be tough but not impossible though. With that, Annique already had the Summon Wind Spirit book dropped, so that saves me the trouble of getting it as well (not that the auction house is selling them...). But there still is a problem. I had a small chat with one of the few active old clannies yesterday, and he told me that all 45+ players would go to the Havoc clan. Now, I'm not gonna wait that long. I'd then rather go to an other clan and start a new career there. In the end I might as well team up with my old clannies in Havoc

...some bugs...
08 march 2010 by DemiGoth
No, I'm not referring to the insects... ![]() I'm talking about a bug in a game. In this case it's Fallen Earth. Though the game is under development as t's being played, the beta period has passed for almost half a year by now. So you'd figure that most odd and obvious bugs have been found already. Well, this one not: ![]() I had to laugh when I saw it. I mean, I have a pretty good computer, the game's server should be on a pretty good computer as well, but calculating 64+5 seems to be a bit too hard though

Resubscribed Aion

I resubscribed for Aion today. I can't yet tell if the game will still bring chaos to me, but so far (after playing about 1 hour), I can tell the game is doing well for now, but I know that's not telling anything. I have to say that with the new monitor, the game looks a lot better... ![]() There is some concern however. My old legion, Co1, seems to be pretty inactive in the game. I looked at the legion-list, and most of the members have been inactive for more than 1 month. The active list is very short, and can be counted on 2 hands With that, I also took a peek in the legion-vault, and that was very empty as well. My guess is that Co1 is shattering since we left Lineage II. I just hope to see some of the members on-line later today and that they can tell me what's going on. There's no news on our forum about quitting Aion, or changing en-mass to an other game...

New monitor

Last week I was wondering if part of my headaches might come from my monitor. After talking it over with my wife yesterday, we decided to get me a new monitor and hope I'm right about that. The old monitor I used to have was an Hansol 720p. It's a good, decent 17"monitor that projects a very nice image on 1600x1200 @ 75Hz. But because I'm a lot behind the computer lately, the radiation the CRT monitor might give could cuse headaches. So I bought a new one. An iiyama ProLite E2208HDS. This one is a full HD monitor with an extremely fast projection (2ms) and lots of other options. After trying my games the first time, I thought the monitor's quality wasn't as good as expected, but playing with the monitor's settings I found out how to optimize it for gaming. Now it rocks! Below are 2 screenshots I made with the new monitor (Fallen Earth & Lord of the Rings online). ![]() There is a problem with Lord of the Rings online though. When I zoom out far, and turn around, the area (mostly in the distance) seems to be a bit choppy. I don't know why, but I think my CPU is now clearly becoming a bottleneck ![]() On the bright side. If my headaches will stay away, I could resubscribe to Aion: the Tower of Eternity and hope the chaos I experienced earlier was caused by the old monitor. |
